If you plan to have a light table but can’t afford to buy one yet, don’t be sad! I have a cheap and slightly improvised solution for you. Check out this quick tutorial!
-Buy a frame at a local shop of home supplies like IKEA or similar. Make sure the size of the frame fits your needs regarding size and check if it is big and deep enough to have space for the lamp.
-Buy a lamp with support like the one in the picture, as well as a sheet of tracing paper and tape (transparent or white). Also get a book or box to use as support of the frame, when using it as light table.
-Separate the back part of the frame and fix the lamp in it’s center with tape. Make sure the lamp it’s well fixed to it’s place. Position a box or book in the top center of the base.
-Separate the back part of the frame and fix the lamp in it’s center with tape. Make sure the lamp it’s well fixed to it’s place. Position a box or book in the top center of the base.
-Place the frame over the box or book and make sure all the pieces are stable. The angle should be comfortable so that you can trace your drawings for long periods of time.
-Now you just need to turn on the light and you are done! I’ve been using mine regularly and it works just fine. Good luck!
